Here's my story by Peggy Sealfon
I used to be a Type AAA Personality. Really! I was an adrenaline junkie and loved the highs of doing and going and being at the top of performance in everything I did. But I would stay in high gear ALL the time until I'd get knocked down by illness, depression or injury. I was prone to colds, flu, fatigue, migraines, accidents and depression. I'd be so excited by the highs but then I'd crash and burn when I hit the lows. And when I got sick, I was totally unproductive and consumed by guilt and discomfort.
Here I am in a Meditative Moment at the Amrit Yoga Institute. I feel calmer!
Then I met world-renowned Yogi Master Gurudev Amrit Desai and experienced the seemingly magical benefits of the Amrit Method. I didn't even realize what an impact the practice was having on my life until others around me noticed that I seemed calmer, more productive, and generally happier. It wasn't that I notably slowed down or did less. In fact, I accomplished MORE. It seemed the more I practiced these techniques, the more time seemed to grow and expand.
I began to function from a more relaxed state of being. I stopped struggling and I seemed to be able to do so much more without getting sick or tired. I was stunned by the realization and thought If I could experience such a shift in my life then this could be of tremendous benefit to others. So I trained with Yogi Amrit Desai and began working with him on projects that would help bring these methodologies to more people. I hold Professional Certifications in both Amrit Yoga Nidra and I AM Yoga and am trained to teach Quantum Breath Meditation. I'm thrilled to be able to bring opportunities to you.
"You need only let go.The universe then begins to create life for you, effortlessly, because you have gotten out of the way." -- Yogi Master Gurudev Amrit Desai
UNDERSTANDING THE DANGERS OF CHRONIC STRESS
Stress is a major issue in our lives and affects our health and performance. Studies by the American Institute of Stress reveal that as high as 80% of all visits to primary care physicians are for stress-related symptoms. Chronic stress deteriorates the body's natural balance and compromises the immune system. Cumulatively stress results in premature aging and degenerative disease. Conditions such as insomnia, indigestion, high blood pressure, heartburn, stroke, heart attacks and cancers have been associated with stress, as well as addictions to alcohol and drugs. The most important point to be aware of is that stress is not necessarily harmful. Rather it is the manner in which you react to stress that is self-destructive. If you want to avoid health problems, you may want to consider being proactive to reduce the source of stress by using the Amrit Method.
WHAT WORKED FOR ME TO REDUCE THE EFFECTS OF STRESS
Ancient yogis practiced methods based on the laws of nature that mobilize blocked energies in the body by activating potent energy centers along meridian lines of the body. Today I offer Integrative Relaxation in the Amrit Method (Amrit Yoga Nidra) which uses a similar method of attention and imagery to engage the mind and bring specific body parts into complete relaxation, releasing blockages so that energy may flow freely along the meridians.
This Integrative Relaxation is a unique combination of alert awareness and deepest relaxation. It takes you into deep states of consciousness where you have direct access to the extraordinary powers of your own intuition, creativity, health and abundance. You can practice it sitting in a chair or lying down in bed, on a floor, whatever is comfortable for you. This method, also known as Yoga Nidra or Yogic Sleep, goes beyond wakefulness into alpha and even theta states of consciousness and stillness that activates harmony and healing.
Within your body there is a potential pharmacy of life-supporting chemicals and tranquilizers that influence and accelerate the internal healing processes. This technique shows you how to use these powers to reduce pain and promote natural healing. It is a form of guided imagery relaxation; a technique of achieving deep mental, emotional and physical relaxation. Such a level of relaxation offers many benefits - some of them scientifically verified. It is a form of relaxation which allows the body to resume its functional balance, or homeostasis.
DO IT EVERY DAY
To take you deeper into the relaxation experience, I have created special CDs for your use based on the Amrit Method that--if used on a daily basis--can potentially help you reduce stress, balance your body and actually turn back the clock. Read more
In these CDs, I guide you into Internalizing Awareness, Special Breathing Techniques, Energy & Body Awareness, Visualizations and Affirmations. Each delivers a total experience that feels quite magical but has been shown to have clear physiological impact. Where before you saw only problems, after doing Integrative Relaxation you may be able to see solutions with more clarity.
Personalized private sessions are also available by phone, Internet or in person. Read more
IS QUALITY OF LIFE WORTH 20 MINUTES?
If you knew that in just 20 minutes a day, you could feel joyful, full of energy and productive, would you invest the time? Tension is normal but if you don't balance the tension with relaxation, the result is stress. Our culture doesn't encourage us to take the time to "let go." We've gotten conditioned to feeling stressed all the time. And just like I used to end up in frustrated states of disintegration when I'd get sick or feel miserable, most of us experience burn out at one time or another and end up in the doctor's office. Do you want to continue the self-destructive pattern? Or are you ready to take time for your own benefit which will also benefit those around you?
The Amrit Method takes only 20 or 30 minutes. My personal favorite CD is Integrative Relaxation for Stress which has a 20-minute AND a 30-minute version. (I also created a CD for PAIN and another for SPORTS, to improve performance, another for TRAVELERS and yet another to improve SLEEP.) Read more. I listen to my CD before I get out of bed every morning to start my day in an integrated, relaxed state. I often use it not just for stress but if I'm tired and need an energy boost. Studies have shown that just 20 minutes of Integrative Relaxation is equivalent to 3-4 hours of deeply restful REM sleep. A fearful, worried mind is fragmented and unable to see clearly or function effectively. Integrative Relaxation calms and integrates. It changes your mind!
You cannot solve a problem with the same mind that created the problem. --Albert Einstein
