The Body's Energy Centers

 

 

Chakras are energy centers which are part of the ethereal body. They are the openings for our life energy to flow into and out of our aura and they are stations along the central axis of our being. The word “Chakra” comes from the Sanskrit and means “wheel” or “disk.” These centers—of which there are seven basic ones--are associated with our physical, mental and emotional interactions. Each Chakra correlates to a major nerve ganglia branching forth from the spinal column. Each Chakra also correlates to a level of consciousness, color, sound, body function and much more.   When the Chakras are open, energy flows freely and connects to the divine source which enters your energy field and helps you feel integrated. When mental, emotional or environmental influences block an energy center or centers, you feel out of sorts and specific symptoms can occur which can help you identify what you might need to work on to restore optimal health and well being. Chakras are invisible to the human eye, but they can be perceived intuitively by trained energy workers. SEVEN BASIC CHAKRAS

The Root/Base Chakra: RED

The 1^st Chakra, Muladhara, is our foundation and grounds us to earth. It is located at the base of the spine and is associated with the Adrenal Gland, controlling the spinal column, bones, teeth and nails, blood, the colon and rectal area. It represents our survival instincts and the connection of our bodies to the physical plane. It relates to our power to achieve goals, vitality, stability, stillness and courage. It takes care of our ability to be in the here and now, our security and our physical needs. When balanced, the Root Chakra allows masculine and feminine energy to work together for strength and vitality. When out of balanced, the feminine aspects disappear and you may become overbearing and have difficulty with the ego.

The Sacral/Spleen Chakra: ORANGE

 

 

The 2^nd Chakra, Svadhisthana, is our sexual energy center. It is located in the abdomen, lower back and sexual organs. It relates to our emotions and sexuality and connects us to others through feeling, desire, sensation and movement. It is the center for reproduction, creativity, vitality and governs the consciousness that relates to sex and food. It governs primal feelings, awe, enthusiasm, openness to others and creativity. When balanced this Chakra helps us to be adaptable and flexible. It is the area that brings new life, and new beginnings. When out of balance, this energy center can cause one to fear death.

The Solar Plexus: YELLOW

 

 

Thd 3^rd Chakra, Manipura, is the power center of the body and is located near the stomach. It controls the muscular system, nervous system, the skin, liver, large intestine, stomach, pancreas and other organs in the region of the solar-plexus. It rules our personal power as well as our metabolism. It controls the ego or personality and is very much about control and power.  It relates to social identity, influence, self-control, energy, joy, inner harmony, vitality and inner strength. When healthy, this Chakra brings us energy, effectiveness, spontaneity and non-dominating power. It gives you strength.   When it is unbalanced, it can produce rage and destructive anger.

The Heart Chakra GREEN or PINK

   

 

The 4^th Chakra, Anahata, is the Heart Center at the center of the chest and is the middle of the entire chakra system. It controls the circulatory system, heart, lungs and entire chest area. It rules over the thymus gland which oversees the immune system.   This is the Chakra related to love and is the energy center that allows us to accept our self and the world around us. It relates to unconditional love, harmony, forgiveness, healing, compassion, understanding, personal transformation, warmth, devotion, selflessness. A healthy 4^th Chakra allows us to love deeply, feel compassion and enjoy a deep sense of peace, contentment and centeredness.
